Esopus Responds to Storm Related EMS and Sturcutre Fire calls

On July 2nd at 14:06 Esopus Fire Dept was dispatched to a report of a male struck by lightning on Old Post Rd.  1 Male patient was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital by the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad. Fire and EMS were assisted by the New York State Police.

 

At 15:11 Esopus Fire Dept was dispatched to a fire alarm at 1746 Route 9W.  While responding we were notified by Ulster 911 of a smell of smoke in the structure.  People in the building reported a possible lightning strike just prior to the fire alarm activation.  The building was checked and no damage was found.

 

At 16:49 Esopus Fire Dept was dispatched to a report of smoke in the structure with a burning odor at 676 Old Post Rd.  Upon arrival units reported a light smoke condition from the exterior.  Further investigation found a fire believed to be caused by a lightning strike.  The fire was extinguished and the residents were able to return. Esopus Firefighters were assisted by Rifton Fire Dept, Highland Fire Dept, the Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit, the Town of Esopus Fire Inspector and the Ulster County Sheriffs Office.
