July 31st 2015 Auto Accident Press Release

On Friday July 31st 2015 at 17:13 the Esopus Fire Department and the  Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad were dispatched for a 2 car head-on motor vehicle accident in the area of 1047 Broadway (Route 9W) in the Town of Esopus.  Firefighters arrived to find 2 cars with significant damage and 1 driver entrapped in the vehicle.  Using Hurst tools commonly referred to as the “Jaws of Life” Firefighters were able to extricate the victim within 17 minutes from the time of dispatch.  In all, 4 victims were transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester County by the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance.  Route 9W remained closed for over an hour to allow for accident investigation and clean up of both the original collision and a subsequent collision just north of the original incident.

          Firefighters were assisted by the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad, Mobile Life Support Services, the New York State Police and the St. Remy Fire Department.
