October 28, 2023 Structure Fire

On Saturday, October 28th at 17:25 the Esopus Fire Department was
dispatched to a possible basement fire at 150 Valli Road. Two residents were
outside and were alerted to the fire by the fire alarm in the residence. They
were advised to stay out of the residence by 911 but were able to rescue a dog
before getting themselves to safety. The first arriving unit was on scene
within 9 minutes reporting a heavy smoke condition and requested a 2nd
alarm be transmitted. Firefighters made entry, located the fire, and initiated
an aggressive interior attack in the basement. A 3rd alarm was transmitted at
17:49 bringing in additional resources and a 2nd FAST team. The bulk of the
fire was contained to the basement, with some extension to the first floor and
smoke throughout the building. One dog was treated with oxygen from our
pet oxygen mask and then transported to a local vet by the homeowner for
evaluation. All units were clear of the scene in just over 3 and a half hours.
The fire is currently under investigation.
