July 10, 2018 Structure Fire

On Tuesday, July 10th at 02:28 the Esopus Fire Department was dispatched for a report house fire 719 Old Post Rd. Firefighters arrived within 5 minutes to find a “well involved” house fire and received reports that one of the occupants was still inside. Firefighters made entry to the structure, battled heavy fire conditions and were able to locate the occupant but the occupant had succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire. Two other occupants were able to safely evacuate and were evaluated by the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad. The incident is currently being investigated by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with the Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit.

Esopus Firefighters were assisted by the Rifton, Port Ewen, Highland, New Paltz, Milton, St. Remy, Tillson and Kingston Fire Departments as well as the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad, Mobile Life Support, New Paltz Rescue, Hurley Fire & Rescue, Ulster County Fire Coordinators Office, Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.
