On Saturday, May 27th, at 06:06, the Esopus Fire Department was
dispatched to a report of a porch fire at 10 Mirror Lake Park. The first arriving
unit was on the scene in 6 minutes and found a porch fire that neighbors were controlling. Firefighters checked for fire extension and
extinguished the fire that was contained to the porch. The fire was
extinguished within 10 minutes of the dispatch. The fire damage was
minimal due to the quick thinking and actions of the neighbors. The fire is
currently being listed as accidental, the fire originating in the area of a battery-powered device. Units were in service within an hour.
Esopus Firefighters were assisted by the Ulster County Fire
Investigation Unit and the Town of Esopus Building Department.
