On Thursday, April 25th at 06:59 the Esopus Fire Department and Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Route 9W and Cross Street. The first arriving unit was on the scene within minutes and found a motorcycle and rider down in the roadway. A school bus was also involved and had several students on board. The rider was transported to a landing zone at the Esopus Firehouse and then airlifted to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. No other patients were transported from the scene. Route 9W was closed and detoured for approximately two hours.
Esopus Firefighters were assisted by the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad, Port Ewen Fire Department, Mobile Life Support Services, LifeNet of New York, the Ulster County Sherriff’s Office, and the New York State Police.
