On Friday, February 21st at 16:15 the Esopus Fire Department and Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad were dispatched to a report of a rollover motor vehicle accident in the area of 1646 Route 9W. While responding units were advised of a broken utility pole and possible ejection from the vehicle. Upon arrival responders found a single vehicle on its roof and a broken utility pole. The occupants of the vehicle had self-extricated from the vehicle prior to arrival of responders, with assistance from passing motorists. Both patients were transported by ambulance to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Route 9W was closed for approximately an hour and a half. The accident remains under investigation by the New York State Police.
Esopus Firefighters were assisted by the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad, New Paltz Rescue, New York State Police, New York State DOT and Central Hudson Gas and Electric.
